Credited as Newsie on IMDb, the paper boy really is meant to display the emotion of the city in general. He is excited first announcing the motorcars and then as more deaths occurs, he goes from excited to scared. With the second last paper, “Are you next?” he is very scared selling his papers and even looks to the sky. The emotion changes back to excitement at the end when “Spring-Heel’d Jack” is caught.
First spoken words: “Read it 'ere first! Ha'penny a rag. Motorcars in, horses out to pasture.”
